Mark Blake is Head of IP Litigation at Medtronic. Mark Blake practices in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent litigation. His experience covers a range of technologies, including digital signal processing, wireless communications, MPEG video and audio compression, hard drives, computer memory and architecture, power management technology, thermoformed plastic computer cushions, print controllers, variable data printing, digital halftoning, software, vehicle engines, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. Mark also has experience in licensing transactions, IP valuation, due diligence, copyright, trademark, and trade secret litigation.
Mark has experience in direct examination of trial witnesses, managing cases, appellate work, initial case evaluation, development of case strategy, e-discovery, taking and defending depositions, licensing, claim construction hearings, motion practice, and working with expert witnesses. He has successfully prevailed on summary judgment in patent cases before district courts in the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of California, and the Southern District of California.
During law school, Mark worked for Qualcomm as a legal intern providing assistance and managing electronic discovery for patent infringement cases before the International Trade Commission and numerous district courts.
